We’re pleased to be a partner with Hockey Day In Canada 2012. This mornings’s press conference was a great opportunity to see how very hard their team has been working behind the scenes to make sure this is a phenomenal event for PEI! Staff and volunteers have lined up an incredible schedule and there is still more to come. We are very pleased to be handling their design, marketing and web needs and everyone at Revolution Media was very excited to launch their brand new website this morning. You can check it out for yourself right now!

It’s been great.
Well, here it is 5:50 on Friday, September 16, and my name has officially been removed from our website.
After seven years and three months, I’m leaving Revolution Media. It was an incredibly hard decision to make. Its been such a fantastic seven years and three months, I wanted to say goodbye and thank everyone that I’ve worked with and for over the years, but I don’t think I can do that without it sounding self-involved and Oscar speech-y. I’ll leave it at “Its been great.”
One thing about Revolution Media is they are always moving forward. Since I joined the team, we’ve moved the Summerside office to a gorgeous condo overlooking the water, we’ve opened up an office in Charlottetown, hired new staff, tried new things, launched a ton of sites, met a lot of great clients and formed a lot of relationships. Even now that I’m leaving, they’re still headed off in an exciting new direction. I’m looking forward to seeing what happens in the coming months. (Dale and Jon, keep up with the tweets, inquiring minds want to know!)
I have some more emails to send, so I have to wrap up the nostalgia. (I am actually really looking forward to saying goodbye to my Outlook, we had a love/hate relationship and I’m happy to rid my life of that daily drama.)
Best of luck to everyone, thanks for everything. Its been great.
Laters.
Why companies are flocking to HTML5
Quoted from http://tech.fortune.cnn.com
FORTUNE — Something in the last 18 months kicked the HTML5 adoption machine into overdrive. Maybe it was tech giants Apple and Microsoft joining hands and dubbing it the future of the web. Maybe it was Google’s launch of the Chrome Web Store, with its focus on HTML5, last December. Maybe it was the HTML5-friendly iPad’s meteoric sales. Whatever it was, a recent wave of consumer-facing web apps from Amazon, Box.net and LinkedIn confirm that this much-hyped language has business’ blessing.
Slemon Park Launches New Site
Revolution Media launched the new Slemon Park site this week.
The site is a behemoth, and not to mention 100% content controlled by the client. Multiple layers of access allow for one administrator to manage the entire site, while other departments to control their sections, as well as the various tools they have at their disposal, such as the daily calendar for the Canada Games Sports Centre, and the Available Properties for the Housing Department.
Due to the amount of content to be communicated, and their diverse audience seeking this information, navigation was of key importance. We covered this in three different areas: big drop down sub-navigation, in-page sectional navigation and the entire site map in the footer area. There is so much information to find there, we didn’t want to take any chances that someone couldn’t find what they were looking for. A robust search tool rounds out our navigational triumvirate.

We’ve moved!
After months of office hunting, we’ve finally decided on a new location. Its small, quirky, and has lots of hidden features. Sort of reminds me of us, now that I think about it.
Our lease was up at the Atlantic Technology Centre, and although the space had served us well, it was time to move on. We had a lot of good times there: Dale was made captain of the fire squad, and I’m sure lots of other fun times that the Summerside office has no clue about. I hope the maintenance staff didn’t mind too much reinstalling those florescent bulbs Jon made them remove.
So the hunt began.
We originally overlooked this little gem; the layout was so odd. But after further inspection and some discussion as to which wall was going to be the red one, we signed the lease, hired some movers and it was done. The movers had a great time moving our three huge, black, custom-built glass dividers. And by “great time”, I mean “put their moving skills to the test”.
The office has character. It had a nice open area that our big black dividers ate up pretty fast, a nook turned into an office, fancy arched windows running down one hallway, a second hallway that goes nowhere, a walk-in closet under the stairs, and now, one awesome red wall.
Stop by and see our new digs, have a coffee and chat; we’re at 119 Queen Street, walk up the stairs and look for the office with the red wall. (You won’t have to look far, honest, we’re at the top of the stairs.)
Another Gorgeous Day at the Office
The Kensington and Area Golf Tournament was held at Andersons Creek again this year, and was lucky to be granted a day of gorgeous weather, of which there was far too few of this spring. The 15 teams played 18 holes, with a chance to win $10,000 on hole 10.
Lee and Peter’s team had a great time, but didn’t manage to return the trophy back to the Revolution Media front desk. The coveted award now sits at Mulberry Motel for a second year in a row.
Jessica enjoyed her day as well: she had the pleasure of sitting at hole 10, soaking up the rays, keeping an eye on any possible hole-in-ones.
Thanks to the Kensington Chamber for a great tournament, and we’re looking forward to bringing home the trophy next year!
New Site Launch: Healthy Games
Revolution Media and Telos International teamed up again to roll out another high-energy website to showcase their work in cognitive fitness. An excerpt from the site:
Just as we all know we should exercise to be physically healthy, it turns out we need to engage our minds to be cognitively healthy. The trick is figuring out how to be healthy in the mind. What exercises should you do? Healthy Games are a good place to start. Take a look at what healthy games are. These fun and engaging games are purposefully built to develop cognitive and motor functions. They work best when combined with a healthy lifestyle that includes physical activity, proper diet, and effective sleep habits. Check out our blog for more info.
Revolution Media built the site with WordPress allowing the team to update their research, blog to their heart’s content and post their newest games to allow the user to actually play on the website.
Visit www.healthygamesonline.com. (And yes, that geeky guy in the lab coat is an actual staffer: their lead researcher and cognitive neuropsychologist, Jim Karle.)
